How do I know if counseling could help me?
You don’t have to be in crisis or know exactly what’s wrong to begin therapy. You may be feeling overwhelmed, struggling in a relationship, navigating a loss or change, or noticing patterns you’d like to understand. Therapy offers space to talk things through, explore what matters to you, and find ways forward that fit your life.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Our first appointment is a chance to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what’s happening in your life, and what you hope might change. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, and you’ll have time to ask questions, too. You don’t need to prepare a speech or share everything at once—we can begin wherever you feel comfortable.
What is your approach to counseling?
I want therapy to be a place where you can be yourself and talk honestly about what’s going on. My approach is warm, collaborative, and shaped by your needs. We’ll work together to understand patterns, consider different perspectives, and find practical ways to make meaningful changes. Your experiences, identity, and values are welcome and respected in our work together.
What if I don’t know where to start or what to say?
You don’t need to have everything sorted out before we meet—that’s part of what we can work on together. You can start with something that happened recently, a feeling you’ve been having, or simply “I’m not sure where to begin.” I’ll help guide the conversation, and we can take our time.
Do you offer in-person and online appointments?
Yes! I offer in-person appointments at my office in Resource Valley in Watkinsville, as well as online appointments through SimplePractice. In-person availability is limited, so please let me know your preference when requesting an appointment.
My office is located at:
1551 Jennings Mill Road, Unit 1900 A
Watkinsville, GA 30677
What does counseling cost?
Private-pay fees are:
• Individual therapy: $150 for the first appointment and $120 for each additional 55-minute session.
• Couples/family: $150 for the first appointment and $135 for each additional 55-minute session.
Payment is due at the time of your appointment. I accept cash, checks, and credit card payments through PayPal.
If you cannot use insurance and cost is a barrier, please ask about reduced-fee availability before scheduling.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, UGA Student Resources, and Medicare for individual therapy. I also work with many other insurance plans on an out-of-network basis.
Your cost depends on your specific plan. Before scheduling, please confirm that I am in-network with your plan and ask about your deductible, copay or coinsurance, and any coverage requirements.
I do not file insurance claims for couples therapy when the focus is the couple’s relationship. I’m happy to discuss payment options and answer questions before we begin.
How often will we meet, and how long are appointments?
Sessions typically last 55 minutes. How often we meet will depend on your needs, goals, and scheduling availability. We’ll discuss a plan together and revisit it as therapy progresses. Some people seek support for a specific concern over a shorter period, while others find ongoing therapy helpful.
Is what I share confidential?
Your privacy matters, and confidentiality is an important part of our work together. There are limits to confidentiality, including certain situations involving safety concerns or legally required disclosures. If you use insurance, some information is also shared to process claims. We’ll review these details before beginning therapy, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any time. You can read my full Notice of Privacy Practices on the Privacy and Your Rights page.
What if I’m not sure we’re a good fit?
Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with matters. You’re welcome to tell me if something isn’t working, if you feel misunderstood, or if you’d like a different approach. We can talk openly about what you need and whether adjustments might help. If another therapist would be a better fit, I’m happy to help you explore options.
How do I schedule an appointment?
If you’re a new client, use the “Request an Appointment (New Clients)” button to complete a brief questionnaire through SimplePractice. I’ll follow up to discuss availability and next steps.
If we’ve worked together before, please email or text me directly to ask about scheduling. You can find my contact information on the Contact page.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are charged the full session fee, even if you normally use insurance. Insurance cannot be billed for missed appointments or late cancellation fees.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you don’t have insurance or choose not to use it, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your care. You can request an estimate before scheduling or beginning services.
For more information about your rights, please read the Good Faith Estimate Notice on my Privacy and Your Rights page.
